Job summary

Lorien is launching a brand-new distribution site at Avonmouth and seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering team through launch and ongoing operations. You will own the maintenance function, oversee internal and external contractors, and drive reliability across the facility.

The role requires strong HSE knowledge, familiarity with CDM, BMS and CAFM, and a time-served electrical or HVAC background. NEBOSH certification is desirable; a proactive, collaborative leader is essential.

Qualifications

• Significant maintenance leadership experience in distribution/logistics/industrial environments.
• Experience leading multi-skilled maintenance teams at scale.
• Knowledge of HSE legislation including Legionella, LOLER, PUWER and Fire Safety.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the maintenance business plan across the site.
• Lead a team of engineering technicians and tradespeople.
• Oversee compliance audits and contractor works.
• Manage budgets, expenditure control and capital planning.
• Oversee Planned Preventative Maintenance and statutory works.

Hours: Rotating 2-week shift pattern - 6:00am to 2:00pm/2:00pm to 10:00pm

About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the maintenance team at a brand-new site in Avonmouth, operated by a major global logistics provider on behalf of a leading UK retail brand. This state-of-the-art distribution facility is a critical part of the wider supply chain, and we're looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the function as the site comes online, taking ownership of a team of engineering technicians and tradespeople.

Key Responsibilities

• Support delivery of the maintenance business plan across the site
• Build effective relationships with stakeholders, specialist contractors, and third-party service providers
• Drive a culture of high performance, accountability, customer service, and safety
• Ensure all compliance, safety, and assurance requirements are met to minimise risk
• Conduct compliance audits across maintenance activities and contractor works
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineering technicians and tradespeople
• Support budget management, revenue expenditure control, and capital planning
• Oversee delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), statutory maintenance, and remedial works
• Contribute to sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives across the site

About You

• Significant experience within a distribution, logistics, industrial, or retail maintenance environment
• Proven experience leading and developing multi-skilled maintenance teams
• Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including Legionella, LOLER, PUWER, and Fire Safety
• Experience managing audits, compliance programmes, and maintenance governance
• Knowledge of CDM regulations, Building Management Systems (BMS), and CAFM platforms
• A recognised electrical qualification (time-served Electrician) or equivalent HVAC qualification
• NEBOSH qualification or equivalent site safety certification
• Strong analytical, reporting, procurement, and supplier management skills
