Job summary

Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA) is recruiting aMaintenance Fitter for its Livesey Street site in Sheffield. You will join the Maintenance Engineering team, handling daily maintenance tasks with a mechanical bias in a heavy forge setting.

The role focuses on planned maintenance, plant installation support, and uptime improvements, with Safety and permit-to-work procedures guiding daily activities. Training and development are available in a permanent role.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained maintenance engineer with a strong mechanical bias.
• Experience working within a heavy forge environment.
• Good working knowledge of hydraulics, ideally Oilgear Tower.
• Mobile plant maintenance skills, including manipulators, FLTs and OHC.
• Experience of breakdown maintenance on presses, hammers, lathes and bores would be ideal.
• Proactive approach with ability to work independently and as part of the wider maintenance team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks.
• Support the installation of new plant.
• Plan mechanical maintenance tasks for completion during scheduled shutdowns.
• Support the development and upgrading of existing equipment.
• Work safely and effectively in line with company safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Complete any other reasonable duties as required by the department.
