Job summary

Rotherwood Recruitment are seeking a Maintenance Fitter for a manufacturing site in the Cross Hills area. The role focuses on servicing, repairing and maintaining plant machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Hours are 6:30am–4:30pm, Monday–Friday. The contract is temporary to permanent, with pay £16.50–£18.00 per hour depending on experience. Experienced mechanical candidates who can work independently and with the team are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or equivalent, five passes including Maths and English.
• Mechanical City & Guilds qualification or equivalent mechanical training and hands‑on experience.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance to plant machinery on site.
• Repairing and maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Dismantling and reassembling machinery, following relevant checklists.
• Working from service sheets and completing maintenance records.
• Operating general machinery safely and effectively.
• Assisting with basic machine installations.
• Working alongside subcontractors on site when required.
• Supporting engineering projects and continuous improvement activities.
• Providing instructions and guidance to other department personnel when required.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations.
• Identifying machinery that is unfit for use, stopping the process where necessary and reporting concerns to management.

Job Description

Rotherwood Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Fitter to join an established manufacturing business based in the Cross Hills area.

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, offering £16.50-£18.00 per hour depending on experience, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 6:30am-4:30pm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, repair and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment across the site, helping to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

This role would suit someone with a mechanical background who is confident carrying out maintenance work, identifying issues and supporting the wider engineering team.
