Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for their Coventry site, working a 3 on 3 off, 6am–6pm pattern. The role focuses on maintaining and improving high-speed production lines with an electrical bias in a fast-paced FMCG setting.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will perform PM and reactive maintenance, fault-find to root cause, and interpret electrical drawings. Occasional travel to other UK sites supports cross-site projects and improvements.

Qualifications

• Experienced maintenance engineer with electrical bias in FMCG/production.
• Able to read electrical drawings and fault-find electrical/mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of inverters, servo motors and PLC I/O; pneumatics.
• NEBOSH and HACCP knowledge is advantageous.
• Engineering degree or Electrical/Mechanical HNC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, efficient operation of production equipment and high-speed lines.
• Carry out PM and reactive maintenance to schedules and breakdowns.
• Fault-find and diagnose to identify root cause and fix quickly.
• Interpret layout designs and electrical drawings accurately.
• Play a key role in new installations and continuous improvement.
• Identify and implement practical improvements to processes and equipment.
• Train site technicians and maintenance managers on new or modified equipment.
• Support projects and maintenance across UK sites, with occasional travel and overnight stays.
• Work autonomously with minimal supervision or direction.

Overview

Our client, a well-established manufacturer operating across multiple UK sites, is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their Maintenance Engineering team. The role will be based at their Coventry site and is on a 3 on 3 off 6am to 6pm basis.

This is a hands-on, technically varied role supporting production equipment across the site operation and would be a great fit for an experienced multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with the Site Operations and Quality teams, you will ultimately be tasked with ensuring that production is running safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the safe, efficient operation of production equipment much of which is automated new machinery including conveyor systems and other high speed lines.
• Carry out both PPM and reactive maintenance in line with schedules and breakdowns.
• Fault finding and other forms of diagnoses to identify root cause of issues and deal with them quickly and efficiently.
• Interpreting layout designs and electrical drawings accurately.
• Play a key role in new installations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identifying and implementing practical improvements to processes and equipment
• Training site technicians and maintenance managers on new or modified equipment
• Supporting projects and maintenance across all UK sites, with occasional travel and overnight stays
• Working autonomously with minimal supervision or direction.

Person Specification:

• Comfortable working in a high-speed, high-pressure FMCG production or distribution environment.
• A demonstrable track record in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering position with an electrical bias.
• Ideally pre-existing experience of automated production or distribution environment equipment.
• An ability to read electrical drawings.
• Mechanical training.
• Practical electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills to include inverters, servo motors, PLC inputs/outputs and some pneumatics.
• Strong verbal and communication skills.
• Preferably an engineering degree or Electrical or Mechanical HNC.
• Knowledge of NEBOSH and HACCP
