Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) for our manufacturing facility in Central Peterborough. You will perform preventative and reactive maintenance on automated equipment, diagnose electrical faults, and ensure safe, efficient production across a rotating 3-shift system.

Candidates should have NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), with HNC/HND preferred, and 18th Edition desirable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship (required).
• HNC or HND in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering (highly preferred).
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Preventative & reactive maintenance on automated equipment and site infrastructure across all shifts.
• Electrical maintenance: diagnose, fault-find, repair electrical systems, motors, drives, control panels and PLCs.
• Mechanical support as needed alongside electrical duties.
• Identify recurring faults and implement continuous improvement to maximise uptime.
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, including risk assessments and LOTO procedures.

Location: Central Peterborough (Commutable from Stamford, Spalding, Huntingdon, and surrounding areas)

Salary: £50,000 + £5,000 Shift allowance (£55,000 total)

Shift Pattern: 3-Shift System (Earlies 06:00-14:00 / Lates 14:00-22:00 / Nights 22:00-06:00)

About the Role

Are you a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical bias looking for a high-reward role in a fast-paced environment? We are currently seeking a dedicated Engineer to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Central Peterborough.

Working on a rotating 3-shift pattern, you will play a critical part in minimizing downtime, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, and ensuring our continuous manufacturing operations run safely and at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid breakdown repairs on automated manufacturing equipment, machinery, and site infrastructure across all shifts.

• Electrical Maintenance: Diagnose, fault-find, and repair electrical systems, components, motors, drives, control panels, and PLCs.

• Mechanical Support: Carry out basic mechanical repair and maintenance tasks alongside primary electrical duties.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify recurring equipment faults and implement continuous improvement solutions to maximize production yield and uptime.

• Health & Safety: Maintain strict compliance with site Health & Safety regulations, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering / Maintenance Engineering (or equivalent recognised apprenticeship) [Required]

  • HNC or HND in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering [Highly Preferred]

  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification (desirable)

• Experience & Availability:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical-biased Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Flexibility to work a rotating 3-shift pattern (Earlies, Lates, and Nights).

  • Strong fault-finding skills with electrical schematics, control systems, and PLCs.

  • Solid working knowledge of safety standards within high-volume manufacturing settings.
