Job summary

Elis is hiring a skilled Engineer for our Newton Abbot site to keep operations safe and reliable. You’ll perform planned, preventive and reactive maintenance on site machinery, working within a fast-paced environment to minimise downtime and improve performance.

You’ll join a proactive team, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, read schematics, document work in CMMS, and support site improvements while prioritising safety and collaboration across operations.

Qualifications

• Around 3 years' experience in manufacturing or process environments.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with electrical circuits, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Safety-focused and capable of quick decisions.
• Experience documenting maintenance in CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Keeping operation moving – carry out planned, preventive and reactive maintenance across site machinery, equipment and infrastructure to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.
• Fault-fighting and problem-solving – diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, identify root causes and implement effective repairs and solutions safely and efficiently.
• Maintaining assets – help ensure equipment and site infrastructure are maintained to a high standard.
• Improving performance – identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency and overall site performance.
• Working with Operations – build strong relationships with Production and other site teams, responding to engineering requirements and communicating effectively when issues arise.
• Putting safety first – ensure engineering activities are carried out in line with site Health & Safety requirements, safe systems of work and relevant engineering standards.
• Maintaining high standards – complete inspections, PPM records and engineering documentation accurately using our CMMS system.
• Supporting improvement projects – contribute to equipment upgrades, remedial works and wider engineering projects that improve the operation for the future.
