Overview
We are working with a leading UK food manufacturing business operating within the high‑volume poultry processing sector, supplying major retail and foodservice customers nationwide. The site is a large‑scale, fast‑paced food production environment where engineering reliability, food safety and operational efficiency are critical to daily performance. (2sfg.com)
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across food production and processing equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime
- Work on conveyors, motors, gearboxes, drives, sensors, pneumatics and automated production systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and plant performance
- Carry out root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
- Support planned shutdowns, upgrades and engineering improvement projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
- Ensure all maintenance activity is completed safely and in line with food manufacturing compliance standards
- Work closely with production teams to maintain site efficiency and operational performance
Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical or Multi‑Skilled)
- Apprentice‑trained Maintenance Engineer preferred
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills
- Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, poultry processing or fast‑paced production environments
- Experience working with automated production equipment
- PLC fault‑finding experience advantageous
- Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a shift‑based engineering team
