Job summary

Maintech Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for our Wellingborough site in Northamptonshire. The role focuses on maintaining and improving production and packaging equipment within a fast-paced environment, reporting to the Reliability Manager.

You will handle planned maintenance, breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives, with a rotating shift pattern (06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00, 08:00-16:00, Mon-Fri, no nights).

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, including motors, sensors, inverters, conveyors and pneumatics.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience in food, FMCG or process manufacturing; PLC fault-finding and 18th Edition are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with maintenance schedules
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on manufacturing and packaging equipment
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery
• Work collaboratively with Production, Quality and Operations teams, ensuring compliance with food safety and health & safety standards

We are working with an established and growing food manufacturing business supplying high-quality products to customers across the UK. The site operates a fast-paced production and packaging environment, with a strong focus on reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement across the engineering function.

As Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will report to the Reliability Manager and be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving a wide range of production and packaging equipment. Working a rotating shift pattern of 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00 and 08:00-16:00 (Monday to Friday, no nights), you will carry out planned preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns and support wider reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding skills, including motors, sensors, inverters, conveyors and pneumatics
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics
• Previous experience in food, FMCG or process manufacturing, PLC fault‑finding and 18th Edition are all advantageous

• Salary of £42,000 - £47,000 per annum, depending on experience
