Job summary

Jonathan Lee is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a growing food manufacturer in Worcester. You will troubleshoot, support preventive maintenance, and work with modern automation to minimise downtime and improve efficiency across the plant.

In this 4-on 4-off days shift, you will perform planned maintenance, respond to faults on electrical systems, pneumatics and basic mechanical issues, and help drive continuous improvement while ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven engineering or maintenance experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding ability for electrical breakdowns; knowledge of pneumatics and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Qualifications such as ONC/City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 and 18th Edition certificate.
• Working knowledge of PLCs (preferably Siemens) and modern automation systems; frequency inverter setup is beneficial.
• Good communication and computer literacy for maintenance systems and Microsoft Office; proactive approach.

• Perform planned preventive maintenance and complete paperwork to required standards.
• Tackle corrective maintenance quickly to minimise downtime, including electrical faults, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Support continuous improvement by proposing practical efficiency, cost, and quality improvements.
• Deliver clear handovers with notes and reports for the next shift engineer.
• Assist with risk assessments and maintain health, hygiene, and food safety procedures.
• Coordinate contractor activity on site with inductions, permits to work, and site rules.

What You Will Do:

• Perform planned preventive maintenance and complete all relevant paperwork to the required standards as a Maintenance Engineer.
• Tackle corrective maintenance quickly and safely to minimise production downtime, including electrical breakdowns and fault finding on pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Support continuous improvement by suggesting practical solutions that boost efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
• Help deliver meaningful handovers, including notes and reports, so the next shift engineer is fully informed and supported.
• Assist with risk assessments and maintain strict adherence to health and safety, hygiene, and food safety procedures.
• Work with and coordinate contractor activity on site, ensuring inductions, permits to work, and site rules are followed.

What You Will Bring:

• Proven engineering or maintenance experience, ideally within a fast paced manufacturing or processing environment as a Maintenance Engineer.
• Strong fault-finding ability for electrical breakdowns, plus knowledge of pneumatic systems and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Relevant qualifications such as ONC and/or City and Guilds in electrical and/or mechanical engineering, alongside NVQ Level 3 in the relevant discipline and an 18th Edition certificate or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, preferably Siemens, and experience with modern automation systems; frequency inverter setup experience is beneficial.
• Confident communication skills, computer literacy for maintenance systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and a proactive, can-do approach.
