Job summary

Fusion People Ltd. is seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Technician to support maintenance, reliability, and performance in a busy manufacturing environment in Walsall.

This hands-on role requires a broad range of electrical and mechanical skills, covering preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns to keep CNC machinery available and productive. You will work with hydraulic, electronic, pneumatic, and DC drive systems and CNC controls from Fanuc and Siemens.

Qualifications

• Apprentice-trained with a recognised engineering qualification.
• Minimum of three years' experience maintaining CNC machine tools.
• Proven experience with 5-axis CNC milling machines and twin-turret milling/twin-spindle equipment.
• Experience with Siemens Simatic HMI systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines to maximise uptime.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Replace components such as ball screws and linear guides and ensure machine levelling and alignment.
• Support proactive reliability improvements and React to breakdowns to maintain production.

Job Title: Machine Tool Maintenance Technician
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Duration: Permanent
Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, reliability, and performance of a busy manufacturing environment.

This is a hands‑on position requiring a broad range of electrical and mechanical maintenance skills. You will be comfortable working in both proactive preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repair situations, managing your workload effectively to ensure machinery availability and operational efficiency.

Essential Experience & Skills

CNC Machine Knowledge
Strong understanding of Fanuc and Siemens CNC control systems.
Experience working on:

• 5-axis CNC milling machines
• Twin-turret CNC lathes

Fault Finding & Repair

Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing:

• Hydraulic systems
• Electronic systems
• CNC software issues
• Electrical systems
• Pneumatic systems
• Mechanical components

Including:

• Low-voltage control and feedback systems
• DC drives
• Linear guide replacement
• Ball screw replacement
• Machine levelling and alignment

Desirable Experience

Apprentice-trained with a recognised engineering qualification.

Minimum of three years' experience maintaining CNC machine tools.

Experience working with:

• Horizontal twin-spindle milling machines
• Twin-pallet milling machines
• Siemens Simatic HMI systems

Valid Forklift Truck Licence.
