Job summary

Fusion People Ltd in Walsall is seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Technician to support a busy manufacturing environment. You will perform hands-on maintenance across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring high machine availability and reliable performance.

The role requires strong knowledge of Fanuc and Siemens CNC control systems, experience with 5-axis milling and twin-turret lathes, and proven fault-finding skills.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining CNC machine tools in a busy manufacturing setting.
• Strong ability to fault-find and repair hydraulic, electrical and CNC systems.
• Familiarity with Fanuc and Siemens CNC control environments.
• Apprentice-trained with a recognised engineering qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out proactive preventative maintenance to maximise machine availability.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing issues and executing effective repairs.
• Maintain machine tool performance, accuracy and alignment as required.

Job Title: Machine Tool Maintenance Technician

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Duration: Permanent

Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, reliability, and performance of a busy manufacturing environment.

This is a hands‑on position requiring a broad range of electrical and mechanical maintenance skills. You will be comfortable working in both proactive preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repair situations, managing your workload effectively to ensure machinery availability and operational efficiency.

Essential Experience & Skills

CNC Machine Knowledge

• Strong understanding of Fanuc and Siemens CNC control systems.
• Experience working on:
  • 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Twin-turret CNC lathes

Fault Finding & Repair

• Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing:
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Electronic systems
  • CNC software issues
  • Electrical systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Mechanical components
• Including:
  • Low-voltage control and feedback systems
  • DC drives
  • Linear guide replacement
  • Ball screw replacement
  • Machine levelling and alignment

Desirable Experience

• Apprentice-trained with a recognised engineering qualification.
• Minimum of three years' experience maintaining CNC machine tools.
• Experience working with:
  • Horizontal twin-spindle milling machines
  • Twin-pallet milling machines
  • Siemens Simatic HMI systems
• Valid Forklift Truck Licence.
