Job summary

Fusion People is seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Technician in Walsall, West Midlands, to support a busy manufacturing environment. You will perform hands-on maintenance and repairs on CNC machinery, including Fanuc/Siemens controls, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and machine alignment, to maximise uptime and efficiency.

A forklift licence is desirable. You will also focus on proactive preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repair, managing your workload effectively to

Qualifications

• Minimum three years’ experience maintaining CNC machine tools.
• Strong troubleshooting of hydraulic, electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with low-voltage control, DC drives, and machine alignment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and service CNC machine tools to ensure uptime.
• Diagnose faults across hydraulic, electrical and software systems.
• Plan and execute preventative maintenance in a busy manufacturing environment.

Job Title: Machine Tool Maintenance Technician
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Duration: Permanent
Salary: Circa £50,000 per annum (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, reliability, and performance of a busy manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on position requiring a broad range of electrical and mechanical maintenance skills. You will be comfortable working in both proactive preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repair situations, managing your workload effectively to ensure machinery availability and operational efficiency.

Essential Experience & Skills

CNC Machine Knowledge

• Strong understanding of Fanuc and Siemens CNC control systems.
• Experience working on:
  • 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Twin-turret CNC lathes

Fault Finding & Repair

Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing:

• Hydraulic systems
• Electronic systems
• CNC software issues
• Electrical systems
• Pneumatic systems
• Mechanical components

Including:

• Low-voltage control and feedback systems
• DC drives
• Linear guide replacement
• Ball screw replacement
• Machine levelling and alignment

Desirable Experience

• Apprentice-trained with a recognised engineering qualification.
• Minimum of three years’ experience maintaining CNC machine tools.
• Experience working with:
  • Horizontal twin-spindle milling machines
  • Twin-pallet milling machines
  • Siemens Simatic HMI systems
• Valid Forklift Truck Licence.
