Job summary

ATA Recruitment is partnering with a large manufacturing business in Skipton to recruit a hands-on Maintenance Engineer. You will keep the site running safely and reliably, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance and tackling machine faults to minimise downtime.

This role offers a salary of £42,000–£50,000 with a 10% shift allowance, and the chance to contribute to continuous improvement and equipment upgrades within a long-established operation.

Maintenance Engineer, Skipton, Double Days

Salary: £42,000 – 50,000 dependent on level of experience + 10% shift allowance.

ATA are supporting one of Europe’s most established manufacturing businesses who specialise within supplying high-quality packaging products to a wide range of industries. The business employs over 1500 people across multiple sites and have a manufacturing heritage of over 150 years.

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering position where you’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on machine availability, reliability and production performance.

About the role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for keeping a busy manufacturing site running safely, efficiently and reliably.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults across production machinery.
• Responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime.
• Completing effective fault finding and root-cause analysis.
• Supporting continuous improvement projects to improve machine reliability and efficiency.
• Supporting machinery upgrades, installations and improvements.

About you

We’re looking for a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Maintenance Technician with experience working within a manufacturing environment.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding ability.
• Experience maintaining production machinery.
• A recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC, HNC, HND or equivalent.
• A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and problem solving.
• The ability to work independently and as part of an engineering team.
• A strong commitment to health and safety.
• Experience within FMCG, packaging, paper, printing, converting or other high-volume manufacturing would be advantageous.
