Job summary

ATA Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a leading UK manufacturer in Hyde, Greater Manchester. The role focuses on maintaining production machinery, site services and support equipment in a fast-paced setting.

You will handle reactive and preventive maintenance, fault-finding on PLCs/HMI, and contribute to continuous improvement while mentoring apprentices. The position offers training opportunities and a secure, long‑term career path within a well‑established site.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in a similar maintenance engineer role.
• Apprentice trained or equivalent with NVQ Level 3 or higher.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on electrical/mechanical systems.
• Experience with PLCs and HMIs in a factory/production setting.
• Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

Responsibilities

Job description

Maintenance Engineer, Hyde, Greater Manchester, Double Days.
Monday Thursday 6am - 1:30pm/ 1:30pm 9pm
Friday 6am 12pm/12pm 6pm 36 average hours a week.

Overtime available, 28 holiday, pension, life assurance covering annual salary + additional benefits.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join one of the leading manufacturers in the UK of designed products for the home. That supply to trade customers, other blind manufacturers, retailers, accredited stockists, commercial companies and the residential market. You ll be implemented into a team of 5 other Engineers. Maintaining all production machinery, site services and miscellaneous equipment.

The Role

As a maintenance engineer, you ll work with a range of machinery including:

• Fabric inspection machinery, cutting machines, stenter ovens, pleating machinery and lamination equipment

Your focus will be reactive and PPM, using a tablet system for job tracking. The role places a strong emphasis on maintenance and repair within a fast-paced environment. As well as being committed to continuous improvement. Experience fault finding on a PLC or HMI is essential. Additionally, this person will assist with the training and mentoring of apprentices.

The Person We re Looking For

To succeed in this role as a maintenance engineer, the successful candidate will have:

• A proven track record in a similar role and a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical practices.

• Be apprentice trained or hold an equivalent qualification, with at least an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent; an HNC or HND would be desirable.

• Have good fault-finding and diagnostic skills, knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

• Have experience of working with and fault-finding on PLCs and HMIs. Previous experience in a factory or production environment.
