Job summary

Advanced Engineering in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join the production team and keep machinery running smoothly. You will perform PPM, diagnose faults, and implement changes to improve reliability and efficiency on a 4-on, 4-off rotating shift.

Key duties include fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems, setting up and changing over equipment, and maintaining records. A strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement is essential.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical/electrical engineering
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proficient in troubleshooting industrial machinery incl. conveyors, motors, pumps and packaging equipment
  • Proactive maintenance mindset with focus on reliability
  • HACCP understanding; IEE 17th edition wiring advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Carry out PPM and routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and maximise equipment reliability.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults and get machinery back up and running.
  • Complete machine adjustments, set-ups and changeovers to support production.
  • Fault‑find across mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Monitor and calibrate machinery to maintain quality, accuracy and safety.
  • Work closely with Production to identify improvements and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, PPM schedules and spare parts information.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company standards.

4 on 4 off, 3 blocks of days followed by 1 block of nights

Are you a 'hands‑on Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault finding, fixing problems and keeping production moving?

I am working with a successful manufacturing business looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team and play a key role in maintaining and improving their production equipment.

What you'll be doing:
  • Carry out PPM and routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and maximise equipment reliability.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults and get machinery back up and running.
  • Complete machine adjustments, set-ups and changeovers to support production.
  • Fault‑find across mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Monitor and calibrate machinery to maintain quality, accuracy and safety.
  • Work closely with Production to identify **improvements and reduce downtime**.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, PPM schedules and spare parts information.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company standards.
  • Support the introduction of new technology and engineering improvements.
What we're looking for:
  • Qualifications to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery, including conveyors, motors, pumps, and packaging equipment
  • Proactive approach to maintenance and a commitment to ensuring the highest levels of equipment reliability
  • A good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 17th edition wiring regulations would be advantageous
