Job summary

AB Agri is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Fradley, Staffordshire. This permanent role is a 38.5-hour week, Monday to Friday day shift, focusing on preventive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement to support yield and efficiency across the site.

The ideal candidate has multiskilled mechanical/electrical engineering capability, 18th Edition, strong H&S knowledge, and experience with planned maintenance systems.

Qualifications

• Multiskilled engineer with suitable technical qualifications.
• Experience with planned maintenance systems and electrical/mechanical fault finding.
• Good H&S knowledge and safe working practices.
• Experience in the food industry is desirable.
• Certifications such as IPAF/PASMA/Forklift could be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety learning opportunities and Target Zero initiatives.
• Maintain site equipment, perform reactive and preventive maintenance, and lead small improvement projects.
• Minimise plant downtime through proactive maintenance planning.
• Support Head of Maintenance to uphold health, feed safety and quality standards.
• Ensure work is risk assessed and carried out on safely isolated equipment.
• Carry out PPMs in line with the CMMS Agility schedule.
• Coordinate spare parts stock and reporting of parts usage and orders.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
• Assist with contractor control, permits to work, and related safety procedures.
• Champion feed safety responsibilities and quality aspirations.

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: Fradley (Staffordshire)

Contract and shift pattern: Permanent contract, 38.5 hours per week Monday to Friday (day shift)

The role of the Multi-Disciplined Maintenance Engineer is to provide first class customer support to the Operations team. This is achieved by performing Preventive Maintenance activities, responding effectively to breakdowns, monitoring equipment performance and providing valuable input to help maintain process yields and efficiencies.

What You'll Be Doing

Actively promote safety learning opportunities

Promote and be an advocate of Target Zero.

Overall maintenance of the site including both reactive and planned maintenance tasks, fault finding, and small improvement projects, minimising plant downtime

Supporting the Head of Maintenance Manager to ensure health and safety, feed safety and Quality standards are never compromised.

Ensure all work is risk assessed and carried out on safely isolated equipment.

PPM tasks in accordance with the agreed schedule. In line with our CMMS - Agility

Be proactive in cooperation with the Operators to agree equipment downtime and availability for maintenance tasks.

Assist the Head of Maintenance Manager in ensuring that adequate spare parts are held in stock by keeping the stores area organised and reporting parts used and ordering from suppliers.

Contribute to continuous improvement by highlighting/identifying possible cost saving initiatives or process improvements.

Assist with Control of Contractors, Permits to Work etc.

Ensure responsibility for Feed Safety is understood across all repartees.

Champion the company’s Feed Safety responsibilities and quality aspirations.

What You'll Bring

Multiskilled engineer: City & Guilds Level 3/HNC or relevant equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

Experience of planned maintenance systems.

Good H&S Working Knowledge

Effective communication skills.

A logical and structured approach to problem solving and fault finding

FMCG, CI or Lean techniques experience
