Job summary

e2e Infosys is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its West Midlands food manufacturing site. You will maintain, fault-find and repair production and packaging equipment to maximise reliability and uptime.

The role requires hands-on engineering in an FMCG setting with strong problem-solving abilities, working independently or as part of a team. Relevant qualifications and experience in PPM, RCA and CMMS are preferred.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent required.
• Hands-on maintenance experience in food manufacturing / FMCG.
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown skills on production lines.
• Experience maintaining production or packaging machinery.
• Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose problems and repair safely and efficiently.
• Capable of working independently or in a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Desirable: CMMS experience; PLC fault-finding; Lean/CI or RCA exposure; 18th Edition; CMMS knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Respond to production breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Diagnose, fault-find and repair production and packaging machinery.
• Maintain equipment such as motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, sensors, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Perform routine inspections and component replacements.
• Support machinery installation, modification and commissioning.
• Identify recurring issues and support RCA and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Update maintenance records and CMMS entries.
• Collaborate with Production and Operations teams to ensure safe, efficient production.

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy food manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault‑finding and repairing production and packaging equipment to ensure maximum reliability, minimum downtime and safe, efficient production.

Candidates may come from an electrical, mechanical or multi‑skilled engineering background, but must have strong practical, hands‑on maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Respond quickly to production breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
• Diagnose, fault‑find and repair production and packaging machinery.
• Maintain equipment including motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, conveyors, drives, sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Carry out routine inspections, servicing and component replacement.
• Support machinery installation, modification and commissioning.
• Identify recurring equipment problems and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Contribute to Continuous Improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
• Complete maintenance records and update CMMS where applicable.
• Work closely with Production and Operations teams.
• Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, BRCGS, HACCP, GMP and food hygiene requirements.

Essential:

• Recognised engineering qualification – NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.
• Hands‑on maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.
• Strong practical fault‑finding and breakdown experience.
• Experience maintaining production and/or packaging machinery.
• Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose problems and carry out repairs safely and efficiently.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of an engineering team.
• Flexible and able to work within a fast‑paced production environment.

Desirable:

• Previous experience within food, beverage, bakery, dairy, meat, ingredients, sauces or other FMCG manufacturing.
• PLC fault‑finding experience.
• 18th Edition qualification.
• Experience with CMMS systems.
• Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or RCA experience.

Candidate:

• We are open to engineers from electrical, mechanical or multi‑skilled backgrounds. What is most important is that you are a practical, hands‑on maintenance engineer who is confident working on manufacturing equipment, diagnosing breakdowns and getting production back up and running safely and efficiently.
