Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join a large manufacturing site in Poole, Dorset. The role covers continental days and nights with a strong focus on reliability, asset care and developing engineers across electrical and mechanical disciplines.

You will perform planned maintenance on high-speed production and packaging machinery, fault-find electrical and mechanical issues, and use CMMS for asset management.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance within manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong fault-finding ability within your core discipline.
• Experience with automated or PLC-controlled machinery.
• Ability to read engineering drawings or schematics.
• Willingness to develop across electrical and mechanical maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance across high-speed automated production and packaging machinery.
• Respond to breakdowns and perform electrical and mechanical fault finding to minimise downtime.
• Work across motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Use the CMMS to record maintenance activity, manage assets and support planned maintenance routines.
• Support reliability and asset-care programmes and drive a proactive maintenance approach.
• Identify recurring faults and contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.
• Work with engineering and production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Are you a Maintenance Engineer looking to join a large, established manufacturing site where there is genuine investment going into engineering, reliability and the development of the team?

We're working with a leading UK manufacturer with multiple sites across the country, producing a range of well-known consumer products.

The Poole site is continuing to invest in its engineering function, with a growing focus on reliability, preventative maintenance and developing engineers across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.

This is an excellent opportunity for either an electrically or mechanically biased engineer. You don't need to be fully multi-skilled from day one, with training and upskilling available to help develop your weaker discipline.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance across high-speed automated production and packaging machinery.
• Responding to breakdowns and carrying out electrical and mechanical fault finding to minimise production downtime.
• Working across motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Using the site's CMMS to record maintenance activity, manage assets and support planned maintenance routines.
• Supporting the site's ongoing reliability and asset-care programme, helping drive a more proactive approach to maintenance.
• Identifying recurring faults and contributing to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement projects.
• Working alongside engineering and production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.

What we're looking for

• Previous maintenance engineering experience within manufacturing, production or another industrial environment.
• An electrical or mechanical engineering qualification, ideally apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Strong fault-finding ability within your core discipline.
• Experience working around automated or PLC-controlled machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret relevant engineering drawings or schematics.
• A willingness to develop further across both electrical and mechanical maintenance.
