Job summary

Edge Recruits is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a well-established manufacturing site in Plymouth. You will support production through planned and reactive maintenance, keeping plant and machinery operating at peak performance.

The role covers PPMs, fault diagnosis, installation and commissioning of equipment, and driving safety and continuous improvement with a collaborative team. The position offers rotating early/late shifts, a competitive salary of £44,660 per annum and a strong focus

Qualifications

• Maintenance apprenticeship or relevant qualifications.
• Experience working with CNC machinery.
• Strong fault-finding skills, ideally with Fanuc control systems and PLCs.
• Understanding of risk assessments and safe working practices.
• Good IT and communication skills.
• A proactive, team‑focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to breakdowns efficiently.
• Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on plant and machinery.
• Install, commission, and support new and existing equipment.
• Support continuous improvement, identifying and resolving repeat issues.
• Maintain accurate electronic maintenance records and stock information.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
• Assist with machinery moves and site improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, including risk assessments.
• Support TPM initiatives across the site.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and contractors.
• Provide guidance to apprentices or new starters where required.

Shifts: Alternating shifts - 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring machinery and equipment operate at peak performance.
