Job summary

Kingston Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Factory Fitter to take ownership of maintenance in a busy manufacturing site. This is a highly autonomous, hands-on role with a strong engineering background, operating mainly on-site with a Monday-to-Friday schedule and an early finish on Fridays.

You will diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults, maintain a wide range of machinery including woodworking equipment, and drive reliability

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong, varied engineering background across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Self-motivated, autonomous with the ability to manage and prioritise your workload.
  • Experience in smaller manufacturing businesses preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own planned and reactive maintenance across the factory.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
  • Maintain and repair a wide range of industrial and woodworking machinery.
  • Undertake welding, fabrication and general engineering repairs.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, minimising production downtime.
  • Maintain maintenance stock and spare parts.
  • Work closely with production and management to improve reliability.

Overview

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Factory Fitter to take ownership of maintenance within a busy manufacturing environment. This is a highly autonomous, hands-on role, suited to an engineer with a strong and varied engineering background who is comfortable working independently within a smaller company. You will be responsible for keeping a diverse range of machinery, equipment and factory services operating safely and efficiently, with plenty of variety to the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of planned and reactive maintenance across the factory.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
  • Maintain and repair a wide range of industrial and woodworking machinery.
  • Undertake welding, fabrication and general engineering repairs.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, minimising production downtime.
  • Maintain factory services, equipment, spare parts and maintenance stock.
  • Work closely with production and management to improve reliability and efficiency.
The Candidate
  • An experienced Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Factory Fitter with a strong and varied engineering background.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is essential.
  • Confident working across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Comfortable diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs across a wide variety of machinery.
  • Self-motivated and highly autonomous, with the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload.
  • Ideally experienced within a smaller manufacturing business, where flexibility and a hands-on approach are essential.
  • Practical, proactive and confident taking ownership of maintenance requirements.
