Job summary

Rullion Ltd in London is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a three-month contract across multiple project locations within London. The role focuses on heating pipework, boilers and district heating systems, with support to lead engineers to deliver planned maintenance and ensure continuous supply.

Ideal candidates hold a Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, valid Gas Safe certificates, and experience with district heating plant.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Gas Safe Certificates including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A and CODNCO1, or equivalent.
• Experience of working on commercial boilers.
• Experience and knowledge of the installation, inspection and testing, maintenance of District Heating systems and all associated plant.

Responsibilities

• Maintain heating pipework networks, heat metering equipment and boilers.
• Assist lead engineers to plan, coordinate and complete maintenance activities both mechanical and electrical.
• Help ensure 24/7 supply by reducing unplanned downtime and assisting with asset performance improvement.
• Identify major costs early to aid business planning.

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: London

Salary: £44,00 -£56,000 per annum (Umbrella)

Employment Type: 3 Months (Candidates must be flexible and willing to work across different project locations within London as required)

Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm

This role is part of a London-based resource team providing support across multiple projects. The initial assignment is expected to be for approximately three months. Whilst there is a strong pipeline of work, future assignments will be dependent on project requirements and business demand, meaning there may be short gaps between placements.

Candidates must be flexible and willing to work across different project locations within London as required.

Due to the flexible and project-based nature of the opportunity, this role may particularly suit experienced contractors, semi-retired professionals, retirees looking to remain active within the industry, or individuals seeking interim assignments rather than long-term. Candidates should be comfortable with periods of project work that may vary in duration and start dates.

You’ll also assist the Operations & Maintenance lead engineers to help plan, co-ordinate and complete maintenance activities, both mechanical and electrical, that impact/are likely to impact on the operational performance of the District Heating Network. The aim is to reduce unplanned unavailability keeping our customers on supply 24/7 and improve the performance of the assets while ensuring all major costs are identified early in the process to assist with Business planning.

Experience and Qualifications - Essential / Desirable

• Achieved a minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Commercial Gas Safe Certificates including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A and CODNCO1, or equivalent.
• Experience of working on commercial boilers.
• Experience and knowledge of the installation, inspection and testing, maintenance of District Heating systems and all associated plant.
• Experience and knowledge associated with the safe isolation and re-commissioning of plant / pipework / electrical systems.
• Experience of IT communications systems.
• The ability to look for best practise, innovate and appropriately challenge existing processes to improve the plant operational and commercial performance.
• Basic health and safety knowledge and competence in hazard identification, risk assessment and management of risks.
• Contract Engagement skills and experience to appropriately challenge contractors on the methods, quality and standards of work.
• Excellent understanding of the commercial and financial effects of plant operation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships, deliver expert advice and influence at all levels.
• Must hold a full UK driving license.

Desirable

• Experience of working on commercial chillers
