Apex Appoint in Goole is seeking an electrically biased engineer to develop into PLCs, controls and automation while staying on a structured maintenance path on a days pattern. You’ll join a well-established site committed to training and progression.
The role focuses on routine electrical maintenance, fault-finding, testing and instrumentation, with exposure to motors, drives and PLC-controlled equipment, and a clear route to PLC diagnostics as you grow.
Are you an electrically biased engineer who wants to develop further into PLCs, controls and automation without having to move into a full Controls Engineer role straight away?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing site that is prepared to invest in your development, including further PLC and controls training, while giving you exposure to a broad range of electrical maintenance work.
The role would particularly suit someone who has recently completed an electrical apprenticeship or is still relatively early in their maintenance career and wants a genuine route to develop their technical capability.
You\'ll work as part of the site engineering team on a regular days pattern, supporting everything from routine electrical maintenance and testing through to breakdowns, instrumentation and increasingly complex controls work as your experience develops.
You do not need to be an experienced Controls Engineer.
They are more interested in someone with a strong electrical foundation, the right attitude and the ambition to develop.
Ideally, you will have:
£40,000 basic salary
Plus:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am - 2:00pm
A level of flexibility is required to support occasional out-of-hours callouts.
The real opportunity here is progression.
Rather than expecting you to arrive as the finished article, the business wants someone with solid electrical fundamentals who they can develop further into PLCs, controls and automation.
If you\'re currently working shifts or feel you\'ve hit a ceiling in a basic electrical maintenance role, this gives you the chance to move onto regular days while adding valuable controls skills to your engineering background
