Job summary

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a high-performing manufacturer in South Wales who are investing heavily in site, machinery and engineering. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer role is hands-on, owning breakdown response and driving reliability to keep production moving.

You'll start on a Monday-Friday days-based pattern, earning approximately £40,000 during training, rising to circa £48,000 once you transition to the site’s rotating days and nights shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Time-served/apprenticeship-trained with NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis on production machinery, minimising downtime and restoring output safely and quickly.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) routines to improve equipment reliability and reduce repeat failures.
• Fault find on drives/inverters, motors and control systems.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring faults and helping implement upgrades.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Approx. £40,000 during training period, rising to circa £48,000 upon transition to shift pattern

The Opportunity

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a high-performing manufacturer in South Wales who are investing heavily in their site, machinery, and engineering function. This is a hands-on role where you'll be trusted to own breakdown response, drive reliability improvements, and keep production moving - the sort of environment that suits an engineer who enjoys fault finding, variety, and being close to the kit.

This position offers a structured development pathway. You'll initially work a Monday to Friday days-based pattern, allowing you to fully embed yourself within the site, machinery, processes and engineering team. During this period, the salary is approximately £40,000. Following successful completion of your training and onboarding period (typically around 12 months), you'll transition onto the site's rotating days and nights shift pattern, increasing earnings to circa £48,000.

What You'll Be Doing

As the Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you'll take responsibility for electrical fault finding and maintenance across a busy production environment, with plenty of opportunity to get involved in improvements and projects.

• Carry out reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis on a range of production machinery, minimising downtime and restoring output safely and quickly.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) routines, improving equipment reliability and helping to reduce repeat failures.
• Fault find on 3-phase motors, drives/inverters, sensors, control circuits, safety systems and panels.
• Support continuous improvement activity by identifying recurring faults, proposing solutions and helping implement upgrades and modifications.
• Work safely within strict procedures including LOTO, permit-to-work and site H&S standards.

The Experience You'll Bring

You'll need a strong electrical maintenance foundation and the confidence to troubleshoot properly in an industrial setting.

• Time-served/apprenticeship-trained with a relevant qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or similar.
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance within manufacturing, FMCG, heavy industry or automated environments.
• Confident fault finding from electrical drawings and schematics, including working within control panels and safety circuits.
• Experience with drives/inverters, motor control systems, sensors, relays, contactors and general control equipment.
• A practical, proactive attitude with strong communication skills and a willingness to take ownership.
