Job summary

Pitreavie Packaging in Cumbernauld is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to keep a busy packaging operation running efficiently. You will maintain and repair plant equipment, carrying out PPMs and reactive tasks while driving continuous improvements with a strong focus on safety and uptime.

The role requires time-served experience and an NVQ3/HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to read technical drawings and work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineer with NVQ Level 3 or HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled engineering role within manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Good understanding of health & safety practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and IT proficiency.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production equipment and machinery.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure safe and effective operation of machinery in line with health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with production and other departments to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Shifts: Rotating days (07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday) and nights (21:00 to 07:00, Monday to Thursday)

What You'll Be Doing

What You'll Need

• Time-served engineer with a relevant NVQ Level 3 or HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• A good understanding of health & safety practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent IT skills
• Strong problem- solving skills and attention to detail
• The ability to work on your own and as part of a team
