Ernest Gordon Recruitment is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) for a Dumbarton site. You will join an experienced team delivering planned and reactive maintenance on heavy industrial machinery, with in-house training and a 4‑day week.

The role covers conveyors, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics and pneumatics, plus mechanical drive systems. Shift pattern is 4 x 10 hours, with overtime opportunities and long-term development prospects.

Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)

£40,000 – £43,000 + OTE £53,000 + Overtime + Training + Bonus + 4 Day Week

You will work as part of an experienced engineering team within a fast-paced production environment, receiving in-house training while supporting the reliability and performance of heavy industrial machinery.

In this varied role, you will carry out a mix of planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs across conveyors, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drive systems, and production machinery. You will troubleshoot engineering issues, support production to minimise downtime, work from mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings, and help maintain safe working practices across the site.

This role would suit a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer or someone from an apprenticeship-trained engineering background who is looking for a 4-day working week, overtime, in-house training, and the chance to develop within a stable manufacturing environment.

The Role:

• Planned and reactive maintenance on heavy industrial production machinery
• Working on conveyors, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems
• Monday – Thursday, 4 x 10-hour shifts, 11:00am – 9:00pm, with some weekend overtime available

The Person:

• Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, or similar
• Apprenticeship-trained or experience within maintenance
• Commutable to Dumbarton
