Job summary

The VEKA UK Group in Burnley is seeking an engineer to join our maintenance team, delivering hands-on maintenance and improvements to ensure peak plant performance.

You will access industry-recognised training, including working at heights, confined spaces, and advanced diagnostic techniques, and collaborate globally on projects.

Qualifications

  • Qualified in engineering (BTEC HNC)
  • Manufacturing/industrial maintenance experience
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and principles
  • Strong fault-finding abilities under pressure
  • Willingness to work Panama shift pattern and overtime as required

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on machinery and equipment
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, minimising downtime
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to maintain peak performance
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement projects and machine upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and support health and safety compliance

Salary for this role £44,270 - £48,837 per annum.

What you’ll do
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on a range of machinery and equipment
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns, minimising downtime
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
  • Work collaboratively with the production and engineering teams to ensure machinery is operating at peak performance
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement projects and machine upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and support compliance with health and safety standards
What you’ll need

Ability to work a Panama shift pattern - 2-week rotation of days and nights. 2-2-3 cycle

  • A recognised qualification in Engineering (BTEC HNC)
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance role
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and principles
  • Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work shifts and support occasional out‑of‑hours maintenance if required
