Job summary

TipTopJob is seeking a Maintenance Engineer in Bridgwater, Somerset (TA6). The role offers a salary range of 48,000–55,000 GBP and a 2 days / 2 nights 12-hour shift pattern. The opportunity includes pension, bonus, private healthcare, and ongoing training within a major food manufacturing environment.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, and support production to maximise uptime while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Fault finding and diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and conducting root cause analysis.
• Support production to maximise machinery uptime and efficiency.
• Deliver preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Ensure work complies with health and safety and food regulations.
• Contribute to site continuous improvement projects.

As a Maintenance Engineer, Youll Be Responsible For

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of food manufacturing and production equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
• Supporting production teams to maximise machinery uptime and operational efficiency.
• Delivering preventative maintenance activities to minimise breakdowns.
• Assisting with the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new equipment.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with health, safety and food industry regulations.
• Contributing to continuous improvement projects across the site.

About You

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• NVQ Level 3, ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong fault:finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience carrying out root cause analysis within a manufacturing environment.
• Previous food manufacturing experience would be advantageous, but not essential.
