Job summary

UPP Exeter is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our onsite team, ensuring student residences are safe, comfortable and operating at their best. The role is permanent, 37.5 hours per week on a rolling rota, with some weekend work and flexible days to support a healthy work life balance.

You will carry out reactive maintenance, support safety, keep communal areas tidy, and help move furniture and appliances.

Qualifications

  • An understanding of building services and safe working practices.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and a commitment to working safely at all times.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to support the wider team when needed.
  • The ability to work additional hours during peak student arrival and departure periods, when required and with notice.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out reactive maintenance and repairs in line with service level agreements.
  • Providing a first-line response to maintenance issues across our accommodation.
  • Maintaining clean, safe and presentable communal areas and external spaces throughout the year.
  • Supporting the safe movement of furniture, mattresses, white goods and waste materials.
  • Identifying and reporting Health & Safety concerns and escalating issues where required.
  • Contributing to a positive student experience through excellent customer service.

Job description

UPP is the UK's leading provider of on-campus student accommodation, operating a diverse portfolio of university sites across the UK, including here in Exeter! At UPP Exeter, we're looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated onsite team, helping to ensure our student residences are safe, comfortable and operating at their very best.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week on a 7-week rolling rota between the hours of 8am and 11pm, with most weeks being 9am-5pm. The rota includes some weekend working with days off during the week to provide you with work life balance. We’re happy to provide you with a copy of the rota so you can see exactly how it works and the flexibility it offers.

The salary for this role is £27,793 per annum.

Key responsibilities
  • Carrying out reactive maintenance and repairs in line with service level agreements
  • Providing a first-line response to maintenance issues across our accommodation
  • Maintaining clean, safe and presentable communal areas and external spaces throughout the year
  • Supporting the safe movement of furniture, mattresses, white goods and waste materials
  • Identifying and reporting Health & Safety concerns and escalating issues where required
