Job summary

UPP Nottingham is recruiting a Maintenance Assistant to join our team, providing both planned and responsive maintenance across campus accommodation. This permanent role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm.

You will carry out reactive maintenance, document job details in Planon, monitor plant rooms and common areas, assist with statutory testing, and help ensure safety and compliance. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Good communication and organisation skills.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures in building services.
• Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with SLA and record job details on Planon using a portable device.
• Maintain environments in accordance with SLA, including cleaning of sites and monitoring plant rooms and common areas.
• Assist with statutory testing (fire alarms, extinguishers, blankets, detectors, water temperature monitoring, emergency lighting checks).
• Provide reports on compliance, maintenance tasks and condition checks.
• Report Health and Safety issues to Managers and take immediate action to reduce risk.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week from 8am until 4pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £26,739 per annum.**Role responsibilities as a Maintenance Assistant include:** * Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA) and provide front line response when jobs are raised on the Workplace Management System (Planon) utilising a portable electronic device to record job details* Ensure that the environment is maintained in accordance with the SLA, including keeping the sites clean and well maintained by monitoring plant rooms and common areas* Assist with statutory testing including fire alarm testing, fire extinguishers, fire blankets and fire detector checks, water temperature monitoring, and emergency lighting checks* Provide reports (verbal/written and electronic) relating to compliance, maintenance tasks and condition checks* Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residence ensuring all information is passed to the relevant Manager(s) and take appropriate immediate actions to reduce risk We truly care about the experience of our residents and invite you to join our friendly and passionate team to help make a positive difference to students living away from home in our accommodation.
