Job summary

B&M Retail in Ellesmere Port is seeking a Maintenance and Automation Engineer to support our Distribution Centre operations. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining automated PLC-based equipment and facilities, with a drive to improve reliability in a fast-paced logistics environment.

You will work with the Maintenance Manager, respond quickly to breakdowns, perform planned maintenance, and support equipment installations and projects. Based on-site, five days a week, 39 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Qualification or equivalent experience with PLC-based automation systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Hands-on approach with tools and maintenance tasks.
• Experience working in a warehousing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to breakdowns and issues raised by colleagues.
• Carry out routine and planned maintenance tasks on automated equipment.
• Maintain records on the facilities management system.
• Collaborate with third-party contractors and support installations.

We are currently searching for a Maintenance and Automation Engineer to join B&M in our Distribution Centre in Ellesmere Port.

The Shift Pattern available is: Monday - Friday, 39 hours per week

This is a hands on role, where you will be supporting our Maintenance Manager with the general maintenance of our distribution centre and the equipment/facilities within, with a focus on the increasing automation technology on site. This site is the latest in the B&M portfolio and acts as a "imports centre", feeding the rest of the network as opposed to Stores. This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis. You will be based on-site, 5 days per week.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Responding swiftly to any breakdowns and issues raised by colleagues
• Carrying out routine/planned maintenance tasks
• Maintaining accurate records on our facilities management system.
• Collaborating and working alongside third party contractors
• Assisting with equipment installations, project work and general PPM as required.

What You’ll Bring

• A qualification or equivalent industry experience with Automation systems (PLC based)
• A strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations
• A "can do" attitude, no job is too small or too large
• Ability to use both power and hand tools as required
• Hands on experience in a warehousing environment is desired, but not essential.
