Job summary

Consult is urgently seeking a Mainframe Consultant/Developer for a hybrid contract role based in London or Sheffield. The assignment is initially six months with 2–3 days on-site each week.

You will work with datasets, VSAM files, DB2 tables, COBOL and JCL, create and run batch jobs, debug abends, write test cases, handle CICS interactions, and document program logic and test evidence for the team.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in Endevor.
• Strong experience in Mainframe.
• Working knowledge of COBOL and JCL.

Responsibilities

• Work with datasets, VSAM files and DB2 tables for reading and updating data.
• Create and run batch jobs and check outputs against expected results.
• Debug program abends and data issues using dumps and logs with guidance.
• Write test cases and run programs in the test region before promotion.
• Handle CICS online transactions for interactive screens under guidance.
• Fix defects raised in testing and production support and add safeguards.
• Document program logic, job flows and test evidence for the team.
