Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd is recruiting a Machining Trainee / Technician for their client in Taunton, Somerset. The role offers full training and a clear path to develop skills in precision engineering, with daily day-shift work and a 35-hour week.

You'll start as a trainee with hands-on setup, machine operation, and quality checks, progressing to an experienced technician as you gain expertise. DBS check may apply; nationality restrictions may apply.

Qualifications

• A Level 2 or Level 3 Engineering qualification preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow technical docs.
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Previous machining or workshop experience preferred for Technician level.

Responsibilities

• Mounting workpieces and preparing jobs for production.
• Setting up machinery in line with drawings and specifications.
• Operating machinery to manufacture precision components.
• Demounting completed work safely and efficiently.
• Cleaning finished components to required standards.
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.
• Inspecting and checking completed work for quality and accuracy.
• Following engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Adhering to Health & Safety and COSHH procedures.
