Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Machine Shop Manager.

  • Full Time Permanent Contract
  • 39 hours per week. Working Monday to Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 8am-1pm
  • Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB
  • Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union

To work directly with Production Management to coordinate work schedules and manage resourcing levels in support of business requirements. This role requires high levels of communication and organization to ensure product flow within the Production department to meet customer deadlines.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize and schedule work through manufacturing to ensure delivery to customer with quality, timely, and cost standards.
  • Ensure MOS processes are embedded and compliant with methodology.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs for the process from raw materials receipt to dispatch.
  • Review and improve manufacturing processes with a focus on lean and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support escalation of work issues to Production Management.
  • Provide reports on productivity, people matters, machining issues, and safety concerns.
  • Work with Engineering and Production teams to optimize costs and utilization.
  • Verify component quality and support quality investigations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Handle disciplinary matters, manage budgets, and conduct appraisals.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and personal development activities.
  • Perform other duties as required to support business needs.
Position Requirements
Essential Criteria:
  • BSc in Engineering, engineering apprenticeship, or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Leadership and management skills.
Desirable Criteria:
  • ILM Level 5 in Management or equivalent.
  • Experience in Machine Shop environment.
