Job description

Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham, is seeking an experienced HSE Manager (Stores & Logistics) to lead our health, safety, and environmental initiatives. This full-time, permanent role offers a 39-hour workweek at our site in Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB. The site operates within a unionized environment, working in partnership with Unite the Union.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and promote a positive HSE culture across the Wrexham sites, ensuring the effective implementation of management strategies and action plans to surpass client expectations and prevent adverse events.
  • Provide professional leadership in HSE, supporting operational management teams, employees, and subcontractors with guidance and advice.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, maintaining and updating HSE policies, procedures, and manuals.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Implement and manage HSE Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OSHA VPP)
  • Manage local council environment permits (IPPC), drive emission and waste reduction programs, and report data to stakeholders
  • Monitor and review HSE legislation, ensuring systems and procedures meet legal requirements
  • Develop and maintain audit schedules for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party assurance
  • Disseminate HSE information and updates from safety organizations and trade associations
  • Promote accident, incident, and near-miss reporting, ensuring prompt response
  • Coordinate with training managers to provide HSE training programs
  • Review and approve process, plant, and equipment plans, and manage contractor safety evaluations
  • Manage and mentor an HSE Advisor
  • Lead emergency response planning, drills, and interface with authorities
  • Conduct accident investigations and develop preventative controls
  • Manage inspections and audits to improve safety practices
Position Requirements
Academic:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental, or occupational health sciences, or equivalent experience
Experience:
  • 5-10 years relevant technical HSE experience
  • 5+ years managing HSE personnel across multiple sites/regions, supporting European operations
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing is advantageous but not essential
