Cavaghan & Gray, part of the 2 Sisters Food Group, is recruiting a production operative in Carlisle, Cumbria. You will help ensure pre-start checks, safe operation, and quality standards on our high-speed lines.

The role emphasises 5S practices, tooling care and efficient changeovers to meet daily targets. Experience in a similar role is welcomed; training in CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety and Food Safety is provided.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in a similar role is desirable but not required.
• CIEH Level 2 Health & Safety (training will be provided).
• CIEH Level 2 Food Safety for Manufacturing (training will be provided).
• Focused improvement experience desired but not necessary.
• Previous work in high-speed production desirable but not necessary.
• Mechanical or electrical qualification or relevant experience desirable but not necessary.

Aufgaben

• Carry out pre-start checks, setup and shutdown procedures to ensure quality and operator safety.
• Maintain standard conditions including SMP adherence, tooling overhauls and proper SOP setups.
• Keep production machinery running efficiently to hit targets and deadlines in line with site OEE.
• Assist in maximizing throughput by streamlining changeovers and minimizing downtime.
• Basic fault finding and escalation to Engineering with proper reporting.
• Basic maintenance and cleaning of tooling and process equipment.
• Manage line standards including 5S and workboards; ensure asset care.
• Ensure tools and equipment stored and maintained following 5S.

Cavaghan & Gray are a member of the 2 Sisters Food Group based in Carlisle in Cumbria. Specialising in producing ready meals for one of the leading food retailers in the UK.

Job Description

• Ensure that machinery pre-start checks, setting up and shutdown procedures are carried out correctly to ensure quality of product and safety of operators
• Ensure all standard conditions are maintained including Adherence to SMP (overhauls of tooling), SOP procedures and standards setups.
• To keep production machinery running efficiently to allow Operations to hit their target / deadlines in line with site OEE
• To assist maximising production throughput and efficiencies by streamlining changeovers and keeping downtime to a minimum
• Basic fault finding / resolution then escalation and reporting to Engineering as required using the correct reporting systems
• Basic maintenance and cleaning of tooling and process equipment
• Management of line standards including 5s and workboards
• Accountability for asset care in your allocated area.

Additional Information

• To ensure that pre-start checks and shutdown procedures are carried out to ensure quality of product and safety of operators
• Setting up and operation of various production machinery
• Monitoring all work in progress and finished product to ensure it matches acceptable production standards
• To assist maximising production throughput and efficiencies by streamlining changeovers and keeping downtime to a minimum
• Basic fault finding / resolution then escalation to Engineering as required.
• Basic maintenance of tooling and process equipment
• Oiling and greasing of machinery to ensure continued workability once trained.
• Examining and discarding defective goods and packaging components
• Cleaning and checking the machinery after completing production runs ensuring faults are reported and dealt with
• Maintaining records set out by the engineering manager.

Ensuring tools and equipment are stored and maintained following the 5s procedure.
