Job summary

Search Consultancy Ltd. is recruiting a Lead Supervisor for a major transmission substation project at Dounreay West, Caithness. The role leads supervisors and site teams, coordinating across multiple fronts to deliver safely, on time and to spec.

Responsibilities include planning, resource management, and working withInstallation and Senior Site Management to maintain progress while ensuring HSEQ compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior/supervisory role on transmission/substation projects.
• Strong substation experience within electricity transmission or distribution.
• Experience leading supervisors and multiple site teams.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical installation activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead supervisors and site teams across multiple work fronts.
• Work closely with the Installation Manager and Senior Site Management team.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, to the required quality and within cost.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical installation activities across the site.
• Plan upcoming works and ensure teams have the required engineering information, plant, materials and resources.
• Coordinate with other work parties to maintain safe and efficient working.
• Monitor programme and identify potential delays or deviations at an early stage.
• Ensure delays, disruption and issues are communicated to Site Management.
• Lead by example and ensure all site personnel comply with site rules and project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality plans.
• Support the preparation and completion of project documentation.
• Ensure task cards are completed within the required timescales.
• Provide leadership and support to supervisors and wider site teams.
• Maintain effective working relationships across the project team.

Contract: Temporary
Start Date: 21 September 2026
End Date: 31 January 2028
Hours: 50 hours per week - 10 hours per day
Rate: 500 per day
IR35: Outside IR35
Positions: 1
Pay: CIS/LTD - 500 per day - Negotiable

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Supervisor to support a major transmission substation project at Dounreay West in Caithness.

This is a senior site leadership position, responsible for coordinating supervisors, teams and multiple work fronts on behalf of the Senior Site Manager / Project Manager.

Role Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead supervisors, site teams and work activities across multiple work fronts.
• Work closely with the Installation Manager and Senior Site Management team.
• Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, to the required quality and within cost.
• Coordinate mechanical and electrical installation activities across the site.
• Plan upcoming works and ensure teams have the required engineering information, plant, materials and resources.

Experience Required

• Previous experience in a senior supervisory / lead supervisory position.
• Strong substation experience within an electricity transmission or distribution environment.
• Experience leading supervisors and multiple site teams.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical installation activities.
• Previous experience working on National Grid, SSE, SPEN or similar transmission/substation projects.
• Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements within a substation environment.
• Apprentice trained with C&G / NVQ Level 3 in an appropriate discipline plus at least 3 years' supervisory experience, or degree qualified with relevant supervisory experience.
