Search Consultancy LTD is recruiting an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support a major converter station project in Norfolk. You will lead and coordinate site teams, reporting to the Site Manager and ensuring delivery across multiple fronts.

The role requires a background in mechanical supervision within substations, converter stations or power projects, CSCS/SSSTS, and a proactive, safety-focused approach with strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Supervisor or similar at substations/power projects.
• Experience leading multiple site teams and coordinating work fronts.
• Strong knowledge of HSE, QA and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate site teams across various work fronts.
• Assist Site Manager with daily delivery of works.
• Ensure activities are on time, within budget and meet quality standards.
• Plan upcoming works and ensure required engineering information, plant, materials and labour are available.
• Coordinate with other work parties for safe and efficient operations.
• Identify delays and deviations and communicate them promptly.

Mechanical Supervisor - Substation Project

Location: Vanguard West, Norfolk, PE37 8EG

Contract: Temporary

Start: 5 October 2026

End: 30 July 2027

Positions: 1

Pay Rates:

• First 37 hours: £39.00 per hour
• After 37 hours / first 4 hours Saturday: £41.34 per hour
• After 4 hours Saturday / Sunday / Bank Holiday: £45.06 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to support a major converter station project at Vanguard West in Norfolk.

The role will involve supporting the Site Manager and taking the lead in coordinating small teams and work activities across multiple work fronts. The ideal candidate will have previous mechanical supervision experience within a substation, converter station, power generation or major construction environment.

Role Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate site teams across various work fronts.
• Support the Site Manager with the day-to-day delivery of works.
• Ensure activities are completed safely, on time, to the required quality and within budget.
• Forward plan upcoming works and ensure the required engineering information, plant, materials and labour are available.
• Coordinate with other work parties to ensure safe and efficient working.
• Identify and communicate potential programme delays or deviations.
• Capture delays and disruption outside the original scope of works.
• Ensure compliance with site rules, QEHS procedures and project requirements.
• Support the completion of task cards and project documentation.
• Ensure timesheets and expenses are submitted within the required timescales.
• Promote a strong safety culture and maintain effective relationships with site management and other teams.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Supervisor, Site Supervisor, General Foreman or similar.
• Converter station, substation or wider power-sector experience is highly desirable.
• Experience working on mechanical or electrical installation projects.
• Previous experience leading teams on major construction or energy projects.
• Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
• Ability to coordinate multiple work fronts and plan upcoming activities.
• Apprentice trained with C&G / NVQ Level 3 in an appropriate discipline plus relevant experience, or recognised industry training with a minimum of two years' relevant site experience.
