Job summary

Notting Hill Genesis Group is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the engineering assurance function across housing and communal spaces. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team of engineers, inspectors and technical assurance specialists, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

You will drive performance, lead inspections, manage contractor relationships and provide escalation support to protect residents.

Qualifications

• A Level 4 qualification, or equivalent, in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Professional membership of a relevant body, such as CIBSE or IET, or willingness to work towards membership.
• Strong technical knowledge of M&E systems, with experience in a regulated housing environment (heating, gas, electrical safety, fire safety).
• Understanding of Building Safety Act, Gas Safety Regulations, electrical safety standards and CDM regulations.
• Experience leading technical teams, overseeing works and guiding contractors.
• Experience delivering inspection and assurance activities and managing incidents/escalations.
• People management skills, including leading remote/field teams, with clear guidance on technical issues.
• Excellent judgment, problem solving and ability to communicate with residents, contractors and colleagues.
• Awareness of cost/value considerations in operational decisions.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of M&E engineering assurance across homes and communal environments.
• Manage performance and capacity of engineering, inspection and assurance teams with clear priorities.
• Ensure monthly technical inspections are completed and life-safety issues are identified and escalated.
• Oversee the certification review process with evidence-based, timely responses.
• Provide on-site and out-of-hours technical presence to support contractor activity and resolve queries.
• Improve technical quality through desktop reviews and site audits with constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate inspection, certification and assurance records for audits and asset data integrity.
• Monitor performance using data to identify trends, risks and quality improvements.
• Lead, manage and develop the engineering team, keeping up-to-date with legislation and standards.
