Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Project Engineer to support the United Utilities Water Framework team in the North West. The role covers design coordination, procurement support, testing, commissioning and handover across water infrastructure assets.

You will work with project managers, engineers and site teams to ensure safe, compliant delivery and right-first-time results. A CSCS card and relevant ME/EE qualifications are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering mechanical and electrical works on capital projects, ideally in water/utility sectors.
• Ability to read and coordinate technical drawings, P&IDs and equipment schedules.
• CSCS card holder with appropriate technical background.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical and electrical work packages including pumps, valves, pipework, MCCs, LV distribution, drives and control systems.
• Review design information, specifications, drawings and technical submissions for compliance.
• Support procurement and package management with designers, construction teams and subcontractors.
• Produce and coordinate RAMS, permits, inspection/test plans and handover records.
• Monitor installation progress, safety, quality and programme interfaces; assist testing and commissioning.

Job description

We're looking for a Mechanical and Electrical Project Engineer to join our United Utilities Water Framework team based in the North West. Location: North West Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation works across water, wastewater, network, pumping station, treatment and sludge assets. You'll be coordinating design, procurement, construction, installation, testing, commissioning support, handover and close-out activities, working alongside our Project Manager, Engineering Manager, Site Management, Commissioning Manager, designers, supply chain and United Utilities representatives to ensure safe, compliant, right-first-time delivery.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Mechanical And Electrical Project Engineer, You'll Be Working Within The United Utilities Water Framework Team, Supporting Them In Delivering High-quality Engineering Solutions Across Water Infrastructure Projects. Your Day To Day Will Include

• Coordinating mechanical and electrical work packages including pumps, valves, pipework, MCCs, LV distribution, drives, instrumentation, and control systems
• Reviewing design information, specifications, drawings and technical submissions to ensure compliance and alignment with project requirements
• Supporting procurement and package management, working with designers, construction teams and specialist subcontractors to resolve technical queries
• Producing and coordinating RAMS, permits, inspection and test plans, commissioning packs and handover records
• Monitoring installation progress, quality, safety and programme interfaces, and assisting with testing, commissioning and performance demonstration activities

What are we looking for?

This role of Mechanical and Electrical Project Engineer is great for you if:

• You have demonstrable experience delivering mechanical and/or electrical works on capital projects, ideally within the UK water sector, utilities, process or infrastructure environments
• You have a strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including pumps, valves, pipework, MCCs, LV distribution, drives, instrumentation and control system interfaces
• You can confidently read, review and coordinate technical drawings, specifications, P&IDs and equipment schedules
• You hold a minimum HNC/HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related discipline, along with a CSCS card
• You're proactive, organised and safety-conscious with excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
