The role focuses on driving ACOP L8/HSG274 compliance, reporting to senior stakeholders, and managing water treatment contractors along with servicing and certification across the M&E portfolio.

Qualifications

• Strong experience delivering Legionella and water hygiene compliance in social housing or local government.

• Experience overseeing gas, electrical and lifts compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead on Legionella and water hygiene compliance, ensuring risk assessments, monitoring regimes and remedial works meet ACOP L8/HSG274 requirements.
• Manage relationships with water treatment contractors and review water risk assessments, log books and remedial action plans.
• Provide assurance and reporting on water compliance to senior stakeholders, escalating high-risk findings as needed.
• Oversee gas, electrical and lifts compliance programmes, ensuring servicing and certification are up to date.
• Hold M&E contractors to account on performance and remedial timescales and maintain accurate compliance records.

Interim M&E Compliance Manager London Local Authority
£550 per day (Inside IR35) Interim London
Braxfield Recruitment is supporting a London local authority in the search for an experienced Interim M&E Compliance Manager to lead on water hygiene and Legionella compliance across the council's housing stock, with broader oversight of gas, electrical and lifts compliance.
Water safety and Legionella control is the priority for this role, and the council needs a specialist who can drive compliance against ACOP L8/HSG274 standards with confidence, while providing assurance across the wider M&E compliance portfolio.

The role

You'll take ownership of water hygiene and Legionella compliance as the core focus of this role, with day-to-day oversight of gas, electrical and lifts compliance across the housing stock. This includes:

• Leading on Legionella and water hygiene compliance, ensuring risk assessments, monitoring regimes and remedial works meet ACOP L8/HSG274 requirements
• Managing relationships with water treatment contractors and reviewing water risk assessments, log books and remedial action plans
• Providing assurance and reporting on water compliance to senior stakeholders, including escalation of any high-risk findings
• Overseeing gas, electrical and lifts compliance programmes, ensuring statutory servicing, testing and certification are up to date
• Managing relationships with M&E contractors across all four compliance areas, holding them to account on performance and remedial timescales
• Maintaining accurate compliance records and reporting across the full M&E portfolio for audit and regulatory purposes

About you

• Strong, demonstrable experience managing Legionella and water hygiene compliance within social housing or a local authority this is essential
• Working knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG274 and water safety group requirements
• Experience across gas, electrical and/or lifts compliance is desirable but not essential
• Confident managing M&E contractors and holding them to compliance and performance standards
• Comfortable reporting compliance performance and risk to senior stakeholders
