Job summary

English Heritage is seeking a Building Services Manager to join our Kent and Sussex Estates team, based at Dover Castle or working remotely from home. The role oversees maintenance and management of mechanical and electrical systems across Dover Castle, Walmer Castle, Deal Castle and Battle Abbey, providing a holistic estates service.

You will lead on condition-driven maintenance, plan replacements, manage budgets and contracts, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across historic

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience administering M&E term maintenance contracts and KPI budgets.
• Experience delivering small to medium M&E capital projects such as boiler and lift replacement.
• Ability to prepare schedules of work, specifications, simple working drawings and diagrams.
• Working knowledge of current legislation covering M&E systems including fire safety and other bylaws.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical and electrical assets across historic properties.
• Lead on maintenance and replacement planning using condition data.
• Coordinate with Estate Managers and Facilities Manager.
• Procure and supervise M&E contracts and audit on-site work.
• Ensure compliance with CDM and heritage policies.
