Job summary

THE NICI Bournemouth is seeking a proactive Maintenance Assistant to join the Engineering team. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across the hotel, ensuring high standards of safety, comfort and presentation for guests and colleagues.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will support day-to-day engineering operations and work with external contractors as needed to maintain guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, facilities, or engineering within hospitality or customer-focused environments.
• Good all-round practical skills across maintenance disciplines.
• Proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Willing to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from all departments.
• Complete general repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decorating, painting).
• Assist in maintaining guest bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and external grounds.
• Support the Maintenance Manager with ongoing projects and routine inspections.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and per procedures.
• Collaborate with external contractors when required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Identify potential maintenance issues and proactively suggest solutions.
