Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced clinician to provide clinical support for the Lung Cancer Screening Programme. The role involves conducting Lung Health Checks and risk assessments by phone or in person, supporting a team, and ensuring pathways are followed per local and national protocols.

Qualifications

• Current 1st level NMC registration and nursing qualification.
• Experience delivering NHS care and respiratory pathways.
• Evidence of leading a team and implementing change.
• Ability to lead service development and practice improvement.
• Willingness to engage in ongoing CPD and governance activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily clinical support to nurses in the Lung Cancer Screening Programme.
• Conduct Lung Health Checks face-to-face or by telephone and track outcomes.
• Lead and manage local pathways ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
• Collaborate with Respiratory, Radiology and Primary Care teams to optimise care.
• Identify urgent cases and facilitate appropriate referrals to ED or GP.
