Job summary

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Nurse to lead the Lung Cancer Screening service within the West Essex pathway. You will provide expert clinical assessment, triage referrals, and develop patient care plans across primary and secondary care.

Working with the Respiratory Department, MDT and cancer performance teams, you will ensure timely investigations, deliver the 28-day Faster Diagnostic Standard, and drive improvements in patient care and outcomes through

Responsibilities

• Setting up post LDCT Screening Review Meetings with clinical colleagues to discuss significant findings.
• Act as facilitator, educator and role-model in delivering a comprehensive lung cancer service.
• Work collaboratively with clinicians, community teams and designated health and social care organisations.
• Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with staff characterised by trust, mutual respect and open communication.
• Assess and triage patients referred on the lung cancer pathway and plan/implement a diagnostic pathway.
• Provide explanations and information to patients regarding investigations and pathway, following up results.
• Lead in identifying innovative ways to improve service and patient care within MDT.
• Coordinate the 28-day Faster Diagnostic Standard and ensure timely delivery of investigations.
