Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lung Cancer Specialist Nurse (Band 6) working 19.5 hours per week at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. The post involves leading a nurse-led service within the lung cancer pathway, collaborating with a full MDT, and developing risk-stratified care plans for patients and carers.

You will provide expert clinical leadership, deliver specialist clinics, and ensure timely communication of results and options to patients, families, and the MDT.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration.
• Evidence of CPD in palliative and/or cancer care.
• Advanced communication skills.
• Significant experience at Band 5 or Band 6.
• Non medical prescribing.
• IR(ME)R training.
• Physical assessment and clinical reasoning course.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nurse-led clinical care across the lung cancer pathway.
• Lead and support MDT meetings and patient communications.
• Develop risk-stratified pathways and care protocols.
• Deliver timely information and ensure patient advocacy.
• Organise and prioritise own caseload and attend governance.
• Supervise Cancer Support Workers and contribute to teaching.
• Prescribe medications as an independent nurse prescriber within Trust.
• Contribute to audits, research, and service improvements.
