Job summary

St Leonard's Church of England Primary Academy is seeking a Midday Supervisory Assistant to supervise pupils at lunchtimes, ensuring a safe and positive environment. You will encourage good conduct, assist with meals and support pupils with social interactions.

The role is temporary until 31 August 2027, with hours 1 hour per day (Mon-Thu 12-1pm, Fri 11:40am-12:40pm). Prior experience in a primary school is desirable, and the post requires reliability and a calm, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Enjoys working with children and supports their wellbeing.
• Calm, caring and positive approach to behaviour management.
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• Awareness of safeguarding and safety of pupils.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils safely during Lunchtime Period in dining hall, playground and indoor areas.
• Encourage positive behaviour, good manners and independent meals.
• Monitor play and promote inclusive, safe interactions.
• Support pupils needing reassurance and assistance during lunchtime.
• Report safeguarding concerns promptly to staff.
