Job summary

Woodlea Primary Academy in a woodland setting is seeking a calm, caring and friendly individual to work with children. You will need to be confident with pupils, have good communication skills, a calm manner and the ability to work well in a team to support learning and wellbeing.

Previous experience is helpful but training will be given; the role involves supervising lunch and outdoor activities, assisting with basic first aid, behaviour support, and helping maintain a safe and inclusive

Responsibilities

  • Support children with complex or medical needs
  • Work outdoors to support outdoor learning
  • Follow school policies and keep records
  • Keep children motivated and engaged
  • Maintain a calm but firm approach and be flexible

Woodlea Primary Academy

We are a unique one form entry primary school, set in our own woodland, surrounded by the Deadwater Valley Nature Reserve. We are a fully inclusive school and we work hard to ensure that each child is respected as a unique individual. Position Description

We are looking for a calm, caring and friendly individual who enjoys working with children. You will need to be confident when dealing with children, have good communication skills, calm manner and be able to work well within a team. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate understanding/awareness of child behaviour and have an awareness of the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality in dealing with pupils.

Previous experience working with children would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

Duties include:
  • Supervising children in our lunch hall, classroom or outside area
  • Assisting with associated duties; cleaning up spillages, ensuring tables are clean, ensuring pupil hygiene
  • Ensuring positive behaviour at all times by encouraging good table manners and healthy eating
  • Have a desire to support children through play and activities
  • Ensuring any issues are dealt with in a positive manner in accordance with our school behaviour policy and procedures
  • Administering basic first aid (training will be given), recording of incidents/accidents and maintaining appropriate records
  • Supporting children with complex or medical needs
  • Enjoys working outside to incorporate our passion for outdoor learning
  • Maintain an awareness of school, national and statutory policies and requirements and apply these in the workplace
  • Ability to keep children motivated and engaged
  • To have a calm but firm approach
  • To be flexible and willing to learn
