Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a caring SEND Lunchtime Supervisor for a Lewisham primary school. The role is 11:30am–1:30pm, Monday to Friday (10 hours per week), and focuses on keeping pupils safe, happy and included during lunchtime.

You will supervise play, assist with personal care when needed, and follow care plans and safeguarding procedures to promote wellbeing and independence.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with primary-aged children with SEND.
• Experience supporting children with ASD and SLD.
• Willingness to complete enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pupils during lunchtime and playground activities.
• Support children with ASD and SLD in managing sensory needs and emotional regulation.
• Provide personal care support where required.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEND Lunchtime Supervisor to join a primary school in Lewisham.

This role involves supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) during the lunchtime period. The successful candidate will help ensure pupils remain safe, happy, and supported throughout lunchtime, including on the playground and during personal care routines where required.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support pupils during lunchtime and playground activities.


• Encourage positive social interaction and inclusive play.


• Support children with ASD and SLD in managing sensory needs and emotional regulation.


• Provide personal care support, including toileting and hygiene, where required.


• Promote pupils' independence, dignity, and wellbeing.


• Help maintain a safe and positive lunchtime environment.


• Follow individual care plans, behaviour support strategies, and safeguarding procedures.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working with primary-aged children with SEND.


• Experience supporting children with ASD and SLD.


• Confidence providing personal care support where required.


• A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach.


• Good communication and teamwork skills.


• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.


• An enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete the required checks.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 11:30am-1:30pm (10 hours per week), subject to confirmation.
