Job summary

Intake Primary Academy is seeking a caring SEND 1:1 Supervisor for lunchtime cover. You will support a pupil with additional needs, helping them feel safe, included and able to participate in activities.

The role is a fixed-term position until July 2027, Monday to Friday during term time, 1 hour 15 minutes per day. You will work with teachers and the SEND team to ensure consistent, supportive routines.

Qualifications

• Caring, patient and compassionate approach to supporting children.
• Understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay calm in a busy school environment.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Experience with children, particularly with additional needs, is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs during lunchtime.
• Support transitions between classroom, dining hall and playground.
• Encourage participation in activities while respecting the pupil's communication style.
• Create a calm, structured lunchtime environment to reduce anxiety.
• Assist with lunchtime routines, including eating and personal belongings.
• Recognise signs of distress and respond appropriately.
• Work with teachers and SEND team to ensure consistent approach.
• Follow individual support plans and safeguarding procedures.
• Help maintain a safe, positive lunchtime environment for all pupils.
