Job summary

Holtspur School & Pre-School is seeking a reliable Catering Assistant to join our lunchtime team during term-time hours (11:30am–1:30pm, Monday to Friday). You will help prepare and serve meals and support pupils during the lunchtime period.

This role focuses on a safe, positive dining experience, high standards of food hygiene, and teamwork. Experience in a school or childcare setting is welcome but not essential; training is provided and staff are supportive.

Qualifications

A caring and patient approach when working with children.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
A reliable, organised and flexible attitude.
The ability to follow food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures.
An understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
Previous experience in a catering, school or childcare setting would be welcomed, but is not essential.

Responsibilities

Receiving and preparing delivered meals for service.
Serving lunches to pupils in a friendly and professional manner.
Supervising pupils during the lunchtime period and promoting positive behaviour.
Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
Cleaning the kitchen and serving areas after service.
Preparing food containers and equipment for collection.
